Perfect Intruders is the new Bulgarian take on the play by French playwright Jean‑Pierre Martinez – a master of situational avalanches in which an innocent courtesy grows into a comic disaster. Here the friendly “vacation” invitation turns into a test of nerves, marriage, and prestige. The themes are close to home: the hypocrisy at the door, the little living‑room lies, and the big truths that finally make it onto the table.

On stage, four actors meet who know well the tempo of the French farce tradition: Gerasim Georgiev – Gero, Iva Todorova, Nadya Derderyan, and Petar Kalchev. The director is Nikolay Gunderov, who shapes the production as a fast‑talking duel of characters and egos, while Kalin Nikolov’s original music captures the sharp shift between “polite smile” and “panicked cover‑up of the truth”.

The production is by ARTVENT and is already touring the country – it plays both in Sofia venues and on summer stages across Bulgaria. Urban audiences will recognize themselves in the refined but slightly condescending hosts; the “provincial” guests are written with genuine sympathy, without being caricatures. The balance between banter and observation is what keeps the audience “on the edge of their seats” to the end.
